If art can be public, than couldn't the public be art?
On an (un?)related note...
I'm slightly perplexed by the (seemingly) randomly placed port-a-potties around campus. Why is there one sitting outside the School of Social Work? Or the Art School? There is no construction near by (and why should construction workers have to go out in the cold anyway? Surely the University wouldn't mind these hardworking people coming into their completed buildings). No outdoor events happening on these streets. It's a bit perplexing. A psych experiment? An art project? Neither? Both?
I wonder what other ordinary, out of place objects will start showing up around town.
Silverware on the street corners?
Hubcaps on the Diag?
Shoes on the library walls?
What metaphors there might be...
