Hanukkah Night Five: Cabaret of Light

Here's a new Hanukkah tradition--instead of lighting candles, eating latkes and saying prayers,
attend a cabaret.
A spectacle of polished and starting-to-blossom talents, in the performance space of a converted house. This small stage, still glitzing and glamorous with red curtains and twinkling lights, audience in alternating black and white chairs, and standing-room-only in the back, with tasteful linens, candles and flowers. I couldn't help wondering, how many of these tiny sparkles of performance and fun are tucked in corners, down basement stairs and through the side doors of this country, this world? How much of the art and non-art world is made up of these spaces, masked from view only by the door through which we simply must know to enter?
