Detroit is a perplexing and beautiful city. There is so much desolation, so many rotting relics of greatness that once was.
But peel back the broken glass, the seemingly abandoned storefronts, and buried beneath the ashes there are spouts of new growth, and quiet gardens that have been cultivating themselves, just out of site. Driving through someone might only see a city of emptiness, but knock on the padlocked door, climb the steps past the broken elevator, be willing to open eyes and extend a hand, and you'll see so many sparkles of beauty, talent, community... hiding, solid in their existence, just not quite ready to be seen by the world.
